The Nursery Part 1

I have been excited to get started on the nursery FOREVER, but I have zero energy recently, so I really haven't gotten a chance to get started on anything other than looking at gorgeous Pinterest posts of nurseries.  Here are the ones I am in LOVE with:

So, pretty much, I am in love with safari themed neutral nurseries (and apparently that giant useless giraffe + those adorable baby animal prints on the wall).  Anyways, THIS is what we are starting with:

Beautiful, isn't it? Clearly we have far too much crap. The future nursery is currently a catch-all junk room. It has everything from our Europe trip and awesome wedding parties this summer. It also has all my books, therapy toys, and Wayne's shoes.... Clearly, step one of the process will be to get it cleaned out. I think we'll sell the desk, and I am hoping that we can move the book shelves into the living room. Unfortunately, I don't think we'll ever have as much light as these nurseries, but I'm hoping I can still manage to make it bright during the daytime (and dark at night). Step two will be picking out the furniture. I'm hoping we'll be able to get a lot of it at Ikea since its cheaper... Then I can actually start on the fun part! Decorating! On a side note, I suck at taking panorama shots...

Our First Prenatal Class

This past weekend, Wayne and I won a draw for a free all-day prenatal class through Mommy Connections. It was a Mom To Be class.

I  never win anything, so it was pretty exciting! I'm definitely not used to sitting for a whole day anymore (it amazes me how quickly that skill leaves), so 9-4 was a pretty long class. It really focused on post-natal stuff and some prenatal stuff. There was a presentation on prenatal yoga, birthplans/pregnancy nutrition/duolas, developing a sleep routine for baby, car seat safety, breastfeeding, postpartum depression, essential oils, RESPs, and prenatal massage... I don't THINK I am forgetting anything. The highlights were definitely the Sleep Well Baby presentation (children in my family typically are HORRIBLE sleepers), car seat safety (super practical, and Travis brought carseats in to demonstrate and explain how to put carseats in), and the Heritage RESPs presentation (again ridiculously practical, and some of it had changed since Wayne learned about RESPs, so it was a good heads-up).

We got an awesome Swag Bag as well from them... Check out the haul.... Aren't those newborn diapers adorable? (I guess you can't really see how itty bitty they are in this pic).

On a side note, I also picked up a trial package from the Honest Company.... I've heard a ton of good things about them, so I thought I'd pick some up. The trial came with 10 wipes and 7 diapers (I know, we'll go through it FAST, but every little bit helps!). Aren't they cute?!?! I'm in love with the Bam, Whack, Pow one for some reason.

One of the books I was reading said that babies go through 80 diapers a week in the beginning! Isn't that insane??? I'm trying to stock up, but I'm not really sure how many newborn vs. size 1 to get. Any advice on getting cheap diapers? The awesome Kalee Haanen sent me the Canadian Mom's Guide to Saving on Diapers... Let me know if you have any tricks though! I need all the help I can get (because apparently on AVERAGE people spend $3,000 on diapers, which seems super ridiculous). Is it worth it to do a combo of cloth diapering and disposable? I feel like I wouldn't stick with a rigid cloth diapering deal, so I feel like it'd lose the benefit of being cheaper.... Thoughts?

Gender Reveal

Now for the moment you've all been waiting for!! (hahaha)! I've FINALLY gotten in touch with my Mom and sister, so without further ado!

Sigh. The picture didn't really turn out like I wanted it too. The blue was too faint in the bubble to really see it, and I miss photographer Esther! But Wayne did a good job. Thanks, Wayne.

Anyways, so obviously I was super wrong, so now we're both super excited and scrambling to think of good boys' names!!! Suggestions are welcome! :)

UltraSound

We went for our 20-week ultrasound today, and it was pretty exciting!!! Baby Ng cooperated, so we were able to find out his/her gender (although she said it can't be a 100% guarantee because it never can be).  I still haven't been able to get in contact with my Mom and Esther (dang 11.5 hour time difference), so we'll have to keep that announcement on the down-low until I can contact them. Baby Ng was moving a TON to the point the ultrasound tech even commented on it, and he/she had hiccups which were pretty cute. Anyways, here's a picture of Baby Ng's profile... What a cute little nose! I'm a little in love already.

How Far Along??  20 weeks now! Its hard to believe that we're half way! Baby Ng is the size of a banana and has working taste buds now. The ultrasound tech said Baby Ng is just under a pound right now.

Maternity Clothes: Like I said during the last post, I got into these puppies ASAP because I hated things touching my waist, and I had an awesome coworker, Haley, who lent me her maternity clothes. This past week though, I made my first maternity clothing purchase. They are a pair of leggings from Cravings, and I am IN LOVE. Best fancy sweatpants ever. I am debating checking if they have them in other colors...

Stretch Marks: Not yet! After my last post, one of my classmates from Minot wrote and suggested BioOil (Thanks, Maegan :)), so I ran out and bought a bottle from Shopper's. I've done a lot of reading that says it doesn't matter what you put on your skin because its only at the surface level, but I am more than willing to try rubbing oil on my belly on the off chance it keeps the stretchies away. PLUS, it makes my skin feel soft.

Sleep: It's still going fairly well! The weird dreams have subsided for now.

Best Moment This Week: Definitely the ultrasound! Baby Ng is so cute (to me anyways- to many others he/she may be a homogenous black and white blob).

Miss Anything: Sangria (why does it seem to be everyone's special right now???) and tobogganing.

Movement: YES! This happened for the first time over Christmas when Wayne set the alarm off on the house by accident while I was sleeping. Apparently, the adrenaline rush kick-started Baby Ng's gymnastic career. V-sits are now Baby Ng's favorite, and I definitely have a Night Owl in there.

Food Cravings: Dill Pickles... Although its not like an I MUST EAT PICKLES craving, its more like if there are pickles in front of me, I must eat all of them. Mmmmmm, pickles.

Food Aversions: I still abhor beef and all its biproducts. Blech. And not a fan of fried food or satayed peppers.

Belly Button In or Out: In.

Wedding Rings On or Off:  On.

Looking Forward To: Starting to decorate Baby Ng's room! Although, its a HUGE mess right now and has essentially been used as a storage room, so it needs to be cleared out....

Verse of the Week: "I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well." Psalm 139:14

Gender Guesses

SO, Wayne & I are hoping to find out the gender of the baby at the ultrasound this week. Unfortunately, my Mom & sister are away in India. Obviously, we are wanting to tell family first, so that means that everyone else will have to wait until we can contact them. I had kinda wanted to do a gender reveal party, but Wayne is against it (party pooper), so I will most likely just be posting the information on the blog or telling people in person once we've talked to our families... That being said, I wanted to post up some of the Old Wives Tales and what they are saying about Baby Ng's gender.  Let me know your guess!

My Guess: Girl!
Wayne's Guess: He says he wants a girl (doesn't have a guess though).

What's your guess??? Leave it in the comments below. :)

Welcome to the Baby Ng Bump Watch!

Hi Friends & Family!

Wayne & I (okay, mostly me) wanted to set up a space that could keep those of you informed about the pregnancy that were interested in it, but we didn't want to inundate those of you who didn't want to get Facebook pregnancy belly pics, room updates, and registry links all the time. The attempted solution is this website! Feel free to click to receive e-mail updates if you're interested in following our journey or just pop by when you feel like it...

BABY NG IS COMING MAY 29, 2015

How far along: 18 weeks (just over 4 months), so Baby Ng is the size of a sweet potato and is working on getting much bigger right now. God is also in the process of giving him or her fingerprints.
Verse of the Week:
"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart."
~Jeremiah 1:5a~
Maternity Clothes: Oh yah, I got into these suckers a couple weeks ago... I like them so much better than a hair elastic around the pants button. I really hate having anything touching my belly.
Nausea:  Yup... Lots of it. So far this pregnancy has blown chunks - literally and figuratively.  It has eased off a bit once we hit 16 weeks, but I still puke every 5 days or so.... I've come to the conclusion that Baby Ng is just a bit bulimic.
Stretch Marks: Nope... I am scared to death of these puppies since I got them during my adolescent growth spurt and am sure I'll get them during pregnancy.
Sleep: Still pretty good. I am a side sleeper most of the time, which works out great for pregnancy. I have had some weird dreams though... I'll have to write down the next one. :)
Best Moment of the Week: Not puking on Sunday or Monday... and some awesome friends got engaged (not baby related but whatever)... AND Baby Ng got his or her first present.
Miss Anything: I am REALLY missing alcohol (like wine & rum and eggnog) which surprises me a whole ton since I'm not a big drinker. It's Christmas season though and everyone is drinking awesome drinks..
Movement: Not yet...
Food Cravings: I am loving fruit snacks and mixed salad with ranch dressing...
Food Aversions: I still have a super strong aversion to beef and its smell - much to Wayne's chagrin.
Belly Button In or Out:  Still in. :)
Wedding Rings On or Off:  On
Looking Forward to: Our first ultrasound on January 13th
My Gender Guess: I think its a girl, thus why this background is pink... I keep looking at girly rooms, girl names, and ideas on the internet. I have absolutely no basis for this other than my puking all the time. Also, Wayne is hoping for a girl, so maybe that influenced it?
Chinese Gender Prediction: According to the Chinese gender prediction, I am having a boy. We plan to find out the gender at the ultrasound if Baby Ng is cooperative, so hopefully we'll find out for sure January. What are you guys thinking?

Anyways, more Baby Ng Belly pics below. They're full length. Thanks to Essie for taking the pictures!! :)
